As momentum builds toward November’s 2022 Midterm Elections, we are inspired by the spirit of 1964’s Freedom Summer. The Andrew Goodman Foundation was established in memory of Andrew Goodman, a civil rights worker who was murdered by the Ku Klux Klan, alongside activists James Earl Chaney and Michael Schwerner, for registering Black Americans to vote in Mississippi’s Freedom Summer.
We believe that the movement of young people that propelled Freedom Summer did not end in 1964, but continues on today and will tomorrow through the spirit of young people who persistently fight for equitable voting rights. Young people have always been and will always be the changemakers who push us forward toward a just and inclusive democracy. Join The Andrew Goodman Foundation for our eighth annual National Civic Leadership Training Summit, themed Legacy Summer 2022. During this virtual event, Andrew Goodman Ambassadors and young people from our partner organizations will gather to hear inspiring panels and participate in training sessions, just as young organizers did ahead of Freedom Summer 1964. They will leave prepared and ready to lead the movement of young voters to the 2022 Midterm Elections.
This event will be held virtually via Zoom. We will provide you a link ahead of time to join the day you registered for. Please do not share the link with people who have not registered for the event. Plan to join the event 10 minutes early if you are newly downloading Zoom to allow you to test your audio and camera settings. Don't forget to add this event to your calendar so that you don't miss out on the inspiring panel of speakers and the hands-on training sessions. We are excited to see you at this year's National Civic Leadership Training Summit!
